In defence, Andrew Robertson should start on the left. He came off the bench against Watford at the weekend, meaning that he should be fresh enough to play from the beginning in the Middle East. Next to him, Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk should take up their positions once again. The latter has taken part in bespoke training sessions in Qatar, and there have been conflicting reports as to whether he will even appear in this match. However, with Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip out injured, there is no replacement available. On the right, Neco Williams could feature, giving Trent Alexander-Arnold a break.
In the midfield three, Jordan Henderson should be the anchor as part of trio. Ahead of him, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita should be given the nod. Georginio Wijnaldum is struggling with a hamstring issue, which will see him sit this one out.
Up front, Divock Origi should come in for Roberto Firmino. With just four goals this term, the 28-year-old may be in line for a break. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, though, should both be included in the starting XI as the Reds look to make it to the final of the competition.
