With deadline day just over a week away, clubs will be looking to do business as they try and make sure their squad is ready for the rigours of the season ahead.
And it is no different at West Ham, who certainly need to do some more business after losing their first two home games, with Slaven Bilic’s side looking increasingly unbalanced as each game goes on.
And you would have to say the Hammers are in desperate need to sign some new faces to balance out the squad and add some much needed strength to their starting XI.
The areas that need a fair bit of attention are up front, perhaps two wingers and another midfielder, so we here’s a good look at five possible signings Bilic should be looking to make before next Tuesday…
Rob Green
You wouldn’t exactly class the goalkeeping position as a must have signing for the Hammers, but the rumours are that the former West Ham stopper could be making a return to East London after leaving to go to QPR in 2012.
The reason for the signing is that the reserve keeper Darren Randolph isn’t considered as good competition for Adrian, and Rob Green would be just that.
Alex Song
The midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Upton Park from Barcelona, has been heavily been linked to a switch back to London this summer and if reports are to believed, a move for the former Gunners man could be concluded this week.
Song would be a good signing for West Ham and if he could get back to the form of the first half of last season then it would be a great signing, something Hammers boss Slaven Bilic will be hoping for.
Victor Moses
The Chelsea winger is a long way down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, especially following the signing of Pedro from Barcelona.
A move for Moses would be possible considering the former Palace man will be looking for regular first team football at this stage of his career.
West Ham will be getting a hungry player and perhaps, more importantly, a player who can give them real pace and width. But the reported £10m fee could well put the Hammers off however.
Burak Yilmaz
The Turkish striker has also been linked with the Hammers for a number of years now, and the West Ham hierarchy have made it well aware that they are in the market for a striker. After missing out on Raul Jimenez, a move for Yilmaz – a similar type of forward – could well be in the offing.
Yilmaz is an experienced striker and would give extra options to Bilic’s attack. Having managed in Turkey, the Hammers boss should be all too aware of the qualities the striker has. A fee of £3.5m has been rejected by Galatasaray, but a decent rise on that fee could see a deal done.
Wissam Ben Yedder
Another striker the Hammers are interested in is Toulouse man Wissam Ben Yedder, who is seen as a like-for-like replacement for Enner Valencia, who is out injured at the moment.
And turning to France to solve a striking crisis has worked for West Ham before, with Diafra Sakho proving a big hit last season, and the signing of Ben Yedder could equally have the same affect.
A fee of £6m is being rumoured for the striker, which would certainly be in the Hammers’ budget too.
