As reported by The Scottish Sun, Aberdeen striker Adam Rooney is the subject of interest from Dundee United this summer.
What’s the story?
United are on the hunt for talents that can help them finally escape the Scottish Championship next season and it seems they are eyeing ambitious moves for players from the top-flight.
The Scottish Sun say that they are interested in signing Adam Rooney ahead of the 2018/19 campaign after the Irishman slowly fell out of favour at Pittodrie last term.
Should Aberdeen sanction his exit to free up wages and potentially attract some sort of fee, or does he still have a role to play at the Dons?

Can Rooney still do a job for Aberdeen?
Rooney may have started less than half of Aberdeen’s Scottish Premiership matches last season, but he still contributed to the cause with 8 goals in the top-flight, with a further two in cup competition.
That means he’s hit double figures for the Dons in every single full season since he joined from Oldham Athletic in January of 2014. That’s a goal contribution that Aberdeen shouldn’t discard so easily.
If they are to continue to compete at the top end of the table then they need depth in every position and even though Rooney may not be the main man anymore, he clearly offers that.
He may not be the free-scoring talent he once was, but he’s worth having around and Aberdeen should ensure they don’t let him leave the club in this transfer window.
