Steffan Jones has joined Northants from Somerset on a two-year deal

Jones, 29, had been at Somerset since 1997, but was told he could leave the club at the end of last season and has now agreed a two-year deal with Northants.”After lengthy discussions with Steffan, we are very pleased to finally get his signature,” said Stephen Coverdale, the club chief executive. “When we knew he would be available, he was a name right at the top of our shopping list. We were looking for a bowler with genuine pace to partner Andre Nel and increase our firepower. Steffan is a genuine competitor, a fitness fanatic and no stranger to hard work.”He will join other new faces Usman Afzaal and Martin van Jaarsveld at the club, but whether Jones was the “big-name signing” Coverdale promised last week is doubtful, so watch this space.
